Join the National Museum of African American Music for a special edition of In The Pocket, celebrating the life, music, and legacy of Grammy-nominated songwriter, artist, and radio pioneer Lee Garrett.

Garrett’s career is woven into the fabric of American music. With songwriting credits including ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours’ (co-written with Stevie Wonder), The Spinners’ ‘It’s a Shame’ and Jermaine Jackson’s ‘Let’s Get Serious,’ ‘Better Than Walking Out’ by Marlena Shaw and ‘Heart Be Still’ for Frankie Valli. He made history as the first blind Top 40 radio DJ, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of his original Heat for the Feets, featuring UK hit  ‘You’re My Everything.

Moderated by Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Shannon Sanders, this intimate conversation will take audiences behind the songs and defining moments of Lee Garrett’s journey — where he’ll share stories from his career, reflect on his friendship and creative relationship with Stevie Wonder, and explore the impact their generation of artists and songwriters has had on music and culture.
